About Sports

 

 Team Sports:

 

I had a chance to meet with the Coach of the girls A basketball coach, Coach Patts. We talked about what it takes to be on a team like basketball or football because to win or do good you need to rely on your team mates. In team sports you need to be able to rely on one another to do their job and build trust. Team sports can teach individuals to be responsible for the good of the team. = For most team sports or any sports for that matter you need to have the following: good academic standing, working hard in practice, don't do drugs/alcohol/ or tobacco, get along with team mates on and off the court/field, and you need to know how to lose and win with character. Then Coach Patts and I talked about what good teams do:

1. Trust one another

2. Hold one another accountable

3. Productive conflict (confrontation)

4. Pay attention to results

That's what Team Sports are all about. 

 

Basketball:

 

Basketball is a game, of how Coach Patts would say, "discipline". Basketball is mostly played in the summer in local schools. At F.H.T.M.S. there is both a girls and boys basketball team. The boys A and B team is led by Mr. McGowan and the Girls A led by Coach Patts and the B led by Coach Corey. In the NBA it has been Orlando from the Eastern Conference and Houston, Phoneix, and Washington from the Western Conference. It seems like the Washington might heat up in a month because the starters are still getting use to each other. It might be the New York Knicks' last season in the champion ship because their star player, Patrick Ewing, is starting to catch up with him. In College ball, Florida, the last years national champs, begin this season in No. 1 both the AP Coaches' pre season polls.

Soccer

 

"Soccer is a sport where you kick the ball with your foot." said by Neharika #1 who played on the B team in 2007 

 

Soccer is a team sport played by 11 players and is the most popular sport in the world. The object of the game is to move the ball

 

down the field into the opposite goal. Except for the goalie, you are not allowed to touch the ball with your hands. So some people

 

use your head, leg, knee, and torso to help them get the ball and score a goal.

 

Field Hockey

Field hockey is a very important sport for men, women, and children all over the world. You use a wooden stick and a small circular ball. This years, Tuttle Middle Schools Feildhockey Team, had a winning streak. Comming out with a undefeated season.
